“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles will defend his WWE World Championship against John Cena & Dean Ambrose in a Triple Threat match at No Mercy 2016. We have noted before how both Cena & Ambrose will take time off after this PPV. Cena will film the second season of American Grit while Ambrose will film a WWE Studios movie. So Styles is scheduled to retain the World Title at the next SmackDown Live exclusive PPV.
“The Viper” Randy Orton is currently planned to become the #1 contender for the WWE World Championship after No Mercy 2016. We noted before how Orton & Styles were scheduled to feud after SummerSlam 2016, but those plans got postponed.
Word is that Vince McMahon is very high on Orton after he willingly took a hard hitting TKO defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar in the main event of SummerSlam 2016.
This match for the WWE World Championship between AJ Styles & Randy Orton might take place at either Survivor Series 2016 (dual branded PPV) or TLC 2016 (SmackDown exclusive PPV after No Mercy 2016).
