Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.
• Mickie James, an 11-time Women’s Champion in WWE & TNA, recently hinted at a potential return to WWE in a new role. After parting ways with WWE in 2021, James has remained active in the wrestling scene, most notably with TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling. Her husband, Nick Aldis, joined WWE last year and currently serves as the SmackDown General Manager.
In a recent interview with Ring The Belle, James discussed the possibility of reuniting with her husband on SmackDown, potentially as his assistant. She expressed pride in Aldis’ performance and hinted at her possible return to WWE.
“When is Mickie James coming in? Oh, I don’t know. I’m so proud of him. He’s doing so great. That would be cool. It would be. I could be his assistant maybe. Sexytary?
Sexytary, that’s my new name. And then take over the title, obviously. Yeah, because I’m the secretary, so I can just write it in, schedule it. There’s always an opportunity there. Well, you never know. You never know. No, I’m so proud of him. He’s doing great. I think he’s killing it.”

• Before facing CM Punk at SummerSlam 2024, WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre mocked Punk by posting a photo with AEW wrestler Jack Perry. Here’s what he wrote:
“It’s a real photo, cry us a river.”
For those who don’t know, Punk told Perry to not use real glass during matches, as it’s dangerous. Perry didn’t listen and used real glass during his match against Hook at All In 2023. Perry then looked at the camera and said:
“It’s real glass, cry me a river.”
Punk and Perry had a backstage altercation at All In after this, which resulted in Perry being suspended and Punk being fired from All Elite Wrestling. Punk ended up returning to WWE a few months later.
During an interview on the Gorilla Position podcast, McIntyre revealed the story behind his photo with Perry:
“On the same flight. I was just right in front of him. I had a chat with him. Lovely lad. His girlfriend is really nice, flying to LA. Just said, ‘Hey, we should do a picture. We’re both wrestlers. I’ll put it on the internet. Give you a little rub.’ People reacted crazy. That internet.”
