Below are some top news stories of the day, including an update on Royal Rumble 2024.
• In the opening match of tonight’s “New Year’s Revolution” edition of SmackDown, Kevin Owens defeated Santos Escobar to become the #1 Contender for the United States Championship.
Owens will now face Logan Paul for the US Title at Royal Rumble 2024 later this month.
Logan began talking trash after the match, which led to Owens laying out Paul with a punch.
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller showed support for Logan in a backstage segment, while Cameron Grimes made fun of Logan. Grayson almost got into a fight with Cameron.
• Matt Riddle recently signed with Major League Wrestling, but he’s not going to be exclusive to them, because the former WWE United States Champion is coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling as well.
At today’s NJPW New Year Dash, a vignette from Riddle aired, where he challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NJPW Television Championship.

• NXT wrestler Xyon Quinn was drafted to the WWE main roster as a “Free Agent” last year.
He has only been used once since then. He competed in the Intercontinental Championship #1 Contenders Battle Royal on the May 15th 2023 episode of RAW, where he was eliminated by The Viking Raiders.
Now, he’s teasing a return to WWE TV after 15 months, as he posted the following:
“See you soon WWE Universe.”
