WWE originally announced the following matches for tonight’s SmackDown:
– WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest & Braun Strowman vs. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga
– #DIY (c) vs. Pretty Deadly for the WWE Tag Team Championship
– Drew McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso
– Liv Morgan vs. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Naomi
According to WrestleVotes, two of the above 4 matches might not take place due to The Rock’s return:
“Tonight’s SmackDown plans have been reworked following the announcement of The Rock’s appearance. Rumblings that both Naomi vs. Liv Morgan and the six-man tag featuring Cody, Priest & Strowman vs. Solo, Jacob & Tama Tonga are off. Drew McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso is still scheduled to take place.”
It should be noted that WWE is still advertising the 6-man tag team match for SmackDown on their website, but Liv vs. Naomi has been pulled.
The Rock wrote the following about his highly-anticipated appearance:
“The Final Boss is coming to handle business, deliver a big beautiful gift to the city of New Orleans and f**k up a certain someone’s life with the Final Boss gospel.”
According to WrestleVotes, one of the things that The Rock will do on tonight’s show is announce the location for WrestleMania 42:
“All signs out of ‘The Big Easy’ this morning point to The Rock officially announcing that WrestleMania 42 is coming to New Orleans next year.”
