Malakai Black (fka Aleister Black in WWE) recently asked for his release from AEW due to mental health issues and problem with his booking in the company.

He was granted his release.

At Saturday night’s Fight Life Pro Wrestling event, Buddy Matthews (fka Buddy Murphy in WWE) said he needs to go away for a while to recalibrate, just like Malakai.

Below is what Buddy said:

“Unfortunately, tonight, I’m going to be the bearer of some unfortunate news. As everyone knows, the House of Black has had some issues lately.

As all the members of the house, I’m speaking for them all, we want to thank you all for being members of the house.

Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to recalibrate. I need to figure out some things.

As my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”

According to Fightful Select, people in AEW believe Buddy’s match on Friday’s AEW Rampage: Grand Slam was his final night in the company.

Sting & Darby Allin defeated Buddy Matthews & Brody King in a No DQ match. During the ending moments of the match, The Great Muta sprayed the green mist in Buddy’s face and then Sting hit him with the Scorpion Deathdrop to pin him.

In an update on this situation, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that both Malakai & Buddy want to return to WWE:

“He was on a show in Rhode Island and said that he needed to step away and recalibrate and he even mentioned Malakai Black. It was very similar wording to what Malakai Black said when he did that independent show a week or two ago.

It’s the same situation. How it’s being handled [and] what’s gonna happen is up in the air. But he’s gone for now.

Obviously, like Malakai Black, they both wanted to leave and they want to go to WWE. We’ll see how this plays out.”

As we reported before, both Malakai & Buddy were recently sent feelers by WWE about a possible return.
