Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.

• Former NXT & RAW Tag Team Champions Authors of Pain aka AOP (Akam and Rezar), formerly managed by Paul Ellering, experienced success in NXT but faced inconsistent pushes on the main roster before being released in 2020.

Despite rumors of their WWE contract since 2022 and talks about a return, it has not materialized.

However, Fightful Select reports that AOP is planned to make a return to WWE TV soon, likely as part of the SmackDown brand, with Paul Ellering continuing as their manager.

• William Regal returned to WWE nearly a year ago in a Vice President position after departing from AEW. His decision to return was motivated by a desire to work with Triple H again and to be in NXT alongside his son, Charles Dempsey.

In his role as Vice President of Global Talent Development, Regal assists wrestlers by providing feedback on their matches and working with them to enhance their performances.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Regal’s AEW non-compete clause for TV appearances is nearing its end, suggesting the possibility of occasional on-screen cameos in WWE.

However, it is expected that Regal will primarily continue in his behind-the-scenes role, given that WWE already has General Managers / Authority Figures for RAW, SmackDown & NXT.
