This was the 7th annual Backlash event held by the WWF/WWE from 1999 till 2009 and again since 2016.

– Last Man Standing: Edge defeated Chris Benoit
– Kane defeated Viscera
– Hulk Hogan & Shawn Michaels defeated Daivari & Muhammad Hassan
– World Heavyweight Championship: Batista (c) defeated Triple H
• 2 Title Matches For Next NXT TakeOver Event Revealed
At tonight’s NXT TV tapings, The Viking Raiders relinquished the NXT Tag Team Titles and a fatal 4 way match was announced for the vacant titles (which will take place at the next TakeOver event).
Also, Johnny Gargano will defend the NXT Championship against Adam Cole.
