8. Debut of The WWE Universal Championship
When WWE brought back the Brand Extension in July 2016, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship became a property of SmackDown Live as then Champion Dean Ambrose was drafted to the Blue Brand.
There was plans for Raw to have a World Title of their own and everyone was expecting the return of the World Heavyweight Championship (the Big Gold Belt). However, WWE ended up bringing a red-colored Title for the red brand and named it after their “Universe” – WWE Universal Championship.
