… well, almost …
It was actually “Mean” Mark Callous wrestling Sting for the NWA World Heavyweight Title on September 01, 1990 in the Main Event of a WCW House Show Event.
But YES, that ultimative Dream Match did happen, despite him not having the ‘Undertaker’ Gimmick yet.
That night at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, Mark Callous wasn’t originally booked to be in the Main Event and challenge for the World title, as he was already on his way out.
He had given his 2 week notice and was already written out on TV, but suddenly had to replace the original #1 contender that night, Barry Windham, who was booked to wrestle Sting for the title in the Main Event.
Let’s hope Sting gets cleared to wrestle at WrestleMania 32, so we can get the actual Dream Match, like it’s supposed to happen.
