The Top Guys are one of the teams who changed the landscape of Tag Team wrestling in this new era of pro wrestling.

With their old school type of skills, they are favourite to many. Their heel character just adds more power to their abilities in the ring.

WWE poorly booked them throughout 2018, but things changed for them in 2019. There were rumors of Wilder and Dawson leaving the company last year, but they didn’t leave, instead they won the RAW Tag Team Championship last February.

When AEW opened up, Scott Dawson tweeted he’d be seeing Arn Anderson soon, leading to rumors of a move to AEW.

The rumors died when Dawson and Wilder were being pushed alongside Shane McMahon, but they keep reviving after every few months.

The Revival won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice at the end of 2019, but both of their runs were quite disappointing.

They have reportedly turned down the offer of extending their contracts with WWE. Dawson’s deal ends in April, while Wilder’s deal will end in June due to WWE adding more time in his contract because of an injury.

WWE has offered them a significant pay raise, but the only thing they’re demanding at this point is a little bit of creative control over themselves.

Creative control is hardly given to any talent in the WWE unless a big name asks for it. With how things are currently between The Revival and WWE, it’s likely that they’ll end up in AEW by the end of this year.
