8. Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Ali – Intercontinental Championship Match
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Finn Balór at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view to win his first ever Intercontinental Championship. With Balór out of the title picture due to the attack by Bray Wyatt, Nakamura will be looking for a new challenger for SummerSlam.
Several names like Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Aleister Black, Randy Orton and Ali are free to be opponents for the King Of Strong Style at the biggest event of the summer. Looking at things right now, Ali vs. Nakamura is expected to take place at the event (especially since they teased it in a backstage segment on SmackDown).
WWE has been planning a push for Ali, and this might be the right time to start it. Even if Ali doesn’t win the title, the two can put on a great match at the show.
Ali has been facing Buddy Murphy in dark matches, beating him in all of them. WWE would want a face vs. heel feud for the Intercontinental title, and Ali might be the best option to choose.
