• “Thank God I didn’t listen to you” – Vince McMahon On Turning John Cena Heel

During a recent appearance on The Masked Man Show, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz talked about Vince McMahon’s mindset regarding John Cena’s heel turn.

Brian said Vince had considered Cena turning heel, but never ended up doing it and he really likes the decision he made.

Here’s what Brian said:

“When it came to Roman [Reigns], the model was John [Cena], right? Because there were plenty of times when the writers would come in and be like, ‘Can we just turn John heel?’ With the, ‘Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks. Can we do it? Can we pull the trigger?’And it was something Vince [McMahon] never wanted to do.

He considered it, he always considers all ideas but ultimately he didn’t wanna do it and I think in the end he was like, to put it bluntly he was like, ‘Thank God I didn’t listen to you,’ as far as turning John heel because John was the standard-bearer and made a ton of money for the company and Make-A-Wish and merchandise and everything, you know?”

Vince McMahon has noted in the past that he considers Cena WWE’s Babe Ruth.

• Old School ECW Legend Celebrates His Birthday

Old School ECW Legend “The Innovator of Violence” Tommy Dreamer (Real name: Thomas Laughlin) celebrates his 50th birthday today.

Literally no other Professional Wrestler who is as synonymous with the 3 letters ‘ECW’, as “The Heart and Soul of ECW” Tommy Dreamer was and still is.

Tommy joined NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling in 1993 as a muscular, pretty boy character, but soon after the promotion left the NWA in 1994 and became known as Extreme Championship Wrestling, he evolved into a Hardcore Wrestler.

He stayed with the legendary promotion till the very end in January 2001 and then joined the World Wrestling Federation a few months later.

Dreamer then wrestled for the WWF/WWE until 2010 and again for a few months in 2015 & 2016, but also worked for TNA/iMPACT Wrestling in 2010-2011, 2013-2015 and 2018-2019. He currently signed to Impact Wrestling as well and will get a World Title shot tonight at Impact Wrestling No Surrender PPV.

He also owns his own promotion ‘House of Hardcore’, that was named after ECW’s very own wrestling school, where Taz was the head-coach training all the students during the 90s.

Tommy is married to Old School ECW valet Beulah McGillicutty and together they have two daughters.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMMY DREAMER!
