During his interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul Heyman said the following about Brock Lesnar returning to WWE: “That happened real quick. Yeah, that happened, like, a couple weeks. I mean, at least to my knowledge. I got taken to it after the deal was done.”
Helwani talked about some fans criticizing WWE for bringing Lesnar back due to the allegations made against him by Janel Grant. When Helwani asked Heyman if the criticism is fair, Heyman replied:
“I don’t pay attention to it. He’s here. That’s a reality of the fact he’s here. And if you were in MetLife Stadium on Sunday, you would understand that return meant a lot. That audience was shocked to see Brock Lesnar come out and to see him F5 John Cena. Nuts. That’s our paying audience. They’re happy to see him. I’m happy to be part of a team that presents him.
Everyone has criticism in life. There are people that criticize Jesus, there are people that criticize Moses, there are people that criticize Muhammad. There are people that criticize God or Gods. There is no President that has ever existed with 100% approval rating or there’s no President that’s ever existed that someone has appointed to and say that President sucks.
People to this day think Abraham Lincoln sucked. They’re wrong, but they think it. There are people who thought FDR sucked. They’re wrong, but they think it. Bill Clinton doesn’t have 100% approval rating. Donald Trump doesn’t have 100% approval rating. Nobody does.
There’s always going to be critics of anything that we do, and very few people ever make it to the top in life without ever making mistakes or having skeletons in their closet.
Obviously the decision was made. It’s time to bring back Brock Lesnar. Whatever that decision is based on, I respect it. If there are critics of it, get over it. He’s here and he’s gonna be here and you ain’t gonna be able to cancel him.
And I’m happy to have him back because the audience is happy to have him back. If we brought him back and the audience rebelled against it, I wouldn’t be happy to have him back. ‘Oh man, this doesn’t work,’ but it works, so I’m happy about it.”

Janel Grant’s Team Issues Statement On Brock Lesnar’s Return To WWE
A spokesperson for Janel Grant issued the following statement regarding Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE:
“For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE’s leadership. Instead of righting this wrong, WWE has done nothing to ensure those responsible are held accountable. This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire.
We look forward to the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law where they belong but, in the meantime, we refer you back to Janel Grant’s updated complaint, which outlines, in detail, the abuse she endured by McMahon and others while employed at WWE.”
You can read the allegations against Brock Lesnar in Janel Grant’s amended lawsuit below:
15. McMahon treated Ms. Grant as a commodity—offering her to other men. In March 2020, McMahon began sharing $exually explicit photographs and videos of Ms. Grant (including p*rn*graphic content he recorded on his cell phone) with other men both inside and outside the company, including with members of the television production “tech” team, executives, producers, and a world-famous athlete and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar, with whom WWE was actively trying to sign to a new contract (and ultimately did sign that contract).
27. Even after pushing Ms. Grant out of the Company and muzzling her with an NDA, McMahon continued efforts to exploit her, including attempting to traffic her to a WWE star Brock Lesnar who would be in New York City for a live event and TV taping in March 2022.
221. Upon information and belief, McMahon began to recruit Lesnar for a $exual encounter with Ms. Grant while she was still a coordinator in the legal department. By July of 2021, McMahon informed Ms. Grant that WWE Superstar Lesnar would be their next “playmate.”
224. On or about July 12, 2021, McMahon directed Ms. Grant to create personalized $exual content for Lesnar. McMahon shared the photos with Lesnar and then informed Ms. Grant that “he likes what he sees.”
225. On July 21, 2021, McMahon flew and/or caused WWE Superstar Lesnar to fly on a jet into a local airport and travel into Connecticut (across state lines) for what McMahon described to Ms. Grant as a “business dinner,” as well as a $exual encounter with Ms. Grant in McMahon’s condo. Upon information and belief, the dinner was to discuss Lesnar’s continued involvement with WWE.
Prior to the “business dinner” with McMahon, Lesnar made a brief visit to Ms. Grant’s building. However, Lesnar did not return to the building for a $exual encounter because he was too intoxicated and taken back to the plane.
