During “TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan” on FOX, TMZ founder Harvey Levin brought up WWE’s 10-bell salute to Terry Bollea on TV. Harvey said the following about it to Vince McMahon:

“The 10 bell salute. You had such history and such a deep friendship. You must be having such mixed emotions that you weren’t there to be part of that. It really struck me that way.”

Vince replied: “Struck me that way as well.”

McMahon was also asked about his reaction to Terry Bollea saying racist things during his leaked $ex tape and during a phone call to his son Nick in jail. McMahon said:

“It was unforgivable. And I was like, what happened? And when those things occurred, that’s not like him. What in God’s name is going on?”

Hogan was fired from WWE in 2015 when these comments went viral. WWE brought him back in 2018. When asked why the decision was made to bring him back, Vince replied:

“I knew he wasn’t racist. I’ve been with him for so many years. He said some racist things and he should pay for that and he did. But in the end, I think that everyone saw the real Hulk Hogan… Terry Bollea and they felt… wait a minute, this guy, he doesn’t act like a racist. He’s not a racist. We all make mistakes. That was a big one, but he wasn’t a racist.”

As we covered earlier, McMahon said the following about Terry Bollea’s death:

“Shock. We just don’t want to think about someone, a family member or someone that close to you. You don’t think about them passing away. Terry had kicked out so to speak, of so many surgeries. I think he had like 20 surgeries on his back plus others on his knees and hip or something. And he, you know, he overcame all of that. It was a tremendous shock. It was a blow to my heart.”

Vince said the following about pushing Hogan as the face of the World Wrestling Federation in the 80s:

“Just one-of-a-kind. I knew what America wanted. Charisma. Someone who is larger than life, and there is no one who fit that bell any more than Terry Bollea.”

McMahon got emotional while recalling the finish of WrestleMania 3:

“After the pin 1-2-3, Hogan said, ‘Thank you, boss.’ Andre said, ‘No. Now you’re the boss.'”
