• AEW Legend Slams Current Wrestlers For Not Wrestling 20 Times A Month

WWE Hall of Famer and AEW manager Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has some strong opinions about the current generation of wrestlers. He thinks that younger talent don’t care enough about kayfabe and often rely on flashy effects instead of learning how to tell a story in the ring.

Speaking to Games Hub, Roberts discussed the differences between his era and today’s wrestling. He feels modern matches lean too heavily on pyro and other distractions to hide a lack of skill.

“I do, I think sometimes we use pyro and stuff to cover up the lack of knowledge. Back in the day, man, you’re out there alone and you had to do it. But today with all the distractions and the bells and whistles and the pyro and running six, seven guys to the ring, for what? If two guys can’t get it done, get somebody there that can. It’s because guys aren’t learning the way we did.”

Roberts also talked about the reduced schedule of modern stars. Many wrestle only a few times a month, which he says makes it hard to get the reps needed to become polished wrestlers.

“You know, it’s hard to learn your trade when you’re only doing it once or twice a month. A lot of these guys only wrestle two or three times a month. You don’t get polished wrestling two or three times a month. You get polished by putting it out there and doing it 10 times a month, 15 times a month, 20 times a month. Now you’re gonna start picking up stuff.”

What frustrates Roberts the most, though, is wrestlers not protecting kayfabe.

“Guys don’t even care anymore. That’s another thing that pi$$es me off. They don’t think about it. They couldn’t care less.”

• “He’s already got me. We don’t need anyone else” – AEW Star On Tony Khan Possibly Signing AJ Styles

AEW has a roster full of talented pro wrestlers, and Tony Khan is always looking to add more big names to it. One of the stars many fans have always wanted in AEW is AJ Styles.

Back in 2019, The Phenomenal One came close to joining Tony Khan’s promotion. He had talks with The Young Bucks about potentially making the jump, but those discussions never went anywhere and Styles decided to stay with WWE.

Now, with his current WWE contract set to expire around February 2026, Styles has been teasing retirement. Fans are wondering if they’re witnessing his last run in pro wrestling or if a surprise move to AEW is coming.

A fan shared a photo of Styles on X and asked their followers which wrestler they think Tony Khan should sign.

Ricochet, who made the jump from WWE to AEW last year, responded:

“He’s already got me. We don’t need anyone else.”

Ricochet led The Demand to victory over The Hurt Syndicate in a 6-Man Tag Team Match at All Out.
