• Kenny Omega Implies Gail Kim Disrespected Riho To Please WWE, Kim Fires Back
Former WWE Women’s Champion and TNA Hall of Famer Gail Kim has come under fire on X for her comments about AEW star Riho.
Kim was discussing Deathmatch wrestling and referenced Jim Cornette, who is famously against the style. A fan asked her what she thought about Cornette calling Asian women’s wrestlers “schoolgirls” and “$ex dolls.”
After being sent a playlist of Cornette’s rants about Riho, Kim said she personally felt uncomfortable watching Riho wrestle. She pointed to the way camera angles were shot and how Riho was dressed “like a very little girl,” which she felt made the presentation feel inappropriate.
Kim clarified that she wasn’t criticizing Riho’s talent, but rather the way she was filmed and presented at the time. She later stated she wouldn’t be addressing the topic again.
Earlier today, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, who is a big supporter and friend of Riho, took to X to take a shot at Kim. He said that she made those comments about Riho to please TKO, the parent company of WWE.
“Another day and another ‘legend’ doing the splits on it for the yearly TKO gift basket…”
Kim quickly fired back at Omega, writing:
“If you’re trying to beat around the bush and misinterpret things like the rest of the yahoos, let me clarify that you are wrong.”
She followed up with another tweet for clarification:
“And if you’re not talking about me then I’ll apologize but with all the tribalistic crazies out yesterday misinterpreting things, I was yes, assuming so.”
