• Released WWE Star Is Retired From Wrestling

Former WWE star Sonya Deville (Daria Berenato) says she’s at peace with life after pro wrestling – and her wife, Toni Cassano, couldn’t be happier about Sonya being done with wrestling after her release.

Speaking on the Rulebreakers with Saraya podcast, Deville reflected on her decade in WWE, explaining that the company gave her incredible experiences but also consumed much of her young adult life.

“I got signed when I was 21 and left when I was 31. I literally grew up there,” she said. “But I realized there’s life beyond the ring. WWE helped shape me into who I am, but it’s time for other chapters.”

Her wife Toni admitted she’s relieved Deville is no longer competing, revealing how difficult it was to watch her come home injured and exhausted.

“I’m happy she’s not there anymore,” Toni said. “She was constantly sore and missing so much of life. After her injury, I knew the universe was telling her it was time to slow down.”

Deville said stepping away from WWE allowed her to rediscover herself outside of the intense schedule that defined her 20s.

“It’s like you’re on a rollercoaster for 10 years,” she explained. “You can’t stop or look back. Then one day it ends, and you finally take a breath and realize how fast it all went.”

Despite moving on, Deville remains grateful for everything WWE provided.

“I love my 10 years there,” she said. “Even the way it ended. I have no regrets. I’m proud of what I did, and I’m ready for the next phase of life.”

According to Sean Ross Sapp, Sonya is “essentially retired” from wrestling.

• John Cena’s Father Reveals What He Texted His Son After AJ Styles Match

During an interview with SK Wrestling, John Cena Sr. opened up about his son’s recent match against AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel 2025, calling it one of the best bouts in recent years and a true example of professional wrestling done right.

Cena Sr. praised both men for their flawless chemistry and storytelling, saying the match should be studied by every young wrestler trying to understand ring psychology.

“They worked so well together. They read the crowd, they listened, and they delivered exactly what the fans wanted,” Cena Sr. said. “That’s how it’s supposed to be done.”

While he called it a phenomenal performance, Cena Sr. also criticized WWE’s lack of proper buildup for the match. He said the storyline leading into the encounter was weak compared to the level of talent involved. “It was a very poor buildup to what I consider a phenomenal match,” he remarked.

After the match, Cena Sr. revealed he immediately texted his son to tell him how proud he was.

“I wrote, ‘Kid, you still got it,’” he said. “John texted back and said, ‘I’m glad you enjoyed it, Dad. It was a lot of fun.’”

Cena Sr. also expressed admiration for AJ Styles, noting that the former WWE Champion plans to retire next year – something he believes will be “another sad day for wrestling.” He praised Styles as one of the few remaining wrestlers who truly understand in-ring storytelling and psychology.

The proud father went on to talk about his son’s mindset as he transitioned away from full-time competition. He said John had always been honest about knowing when to step away.

“He told me, ‘When I can’t go the way I used to and give the fans what I used to, then it’s time to think about retiring.’”

According to Cena Sr., that philosophy has guided his son’s gradual move to Hollywood while still maintaining a deep respect for WWE. “There’s life after wrestling, and John always knew that,” he said. “But no matter what he does, he’s never forgotten where he came from.”
