What started as a personal plea for help from Ridge Holland has quietly turned into one of WWE’s most uncomfortable stories of the month.
After being fired from WWE for badmouthing the company regarding his injury, departure, and financial situation, Holland created a GoFundMe campaign to support his family during recovery. Within hours, donations began pouring in – not just from fans, but from WWE and AEW talent alike. The show of support, however, reportedly didn’t sit well with WWE management.
Current WWE stars contributed to the fundraiser, including Chelsea Green and Omos. AEW wrestlers Kyle Fletcher and Nick Jackson were also among the donors. Green initially shared the GoFundMe link on her social media, but the post was removed soon afterward. According to the Wrestling Observer, someone in WWE most likely asked her to take it down.
Green’s donation was made under her ring name, making her support clearly visible. Omos’ name also appeared on the donor list, while the AEW wrestlers reportedly opted for more discreet contributions. At least five recognizable figures from both promotions are said to have pitched in. Former WWE wrestler Jinder Mahal also donated.
It should also be noted that Chelsea and Omos’ donations will be $1,000 on a monthly basis. Almost $10,000 have been raised so far, with the goal being $60,000.
The tension reportedly stems from how WWE perceives Holland’s public criticism of the company. He had previously expressed frustration online about WWE not renewing his contract while injured (and the injury happened during a TNA match) – a move that sources claim played a direct role in his firing. The subsequent fundraiser only amplified the backlash, creating an optics problem WWE didn’t want to deal with.
While WWE continues to promote record-breaking financial results, fans and wrestlers alike have questioned the company’s handling of an injured performer being forced to seek financial help publicly.
In contrast, the wrestling community has largely rallied behind Holland, praising those who donated and condemning WWE for the way the situation was handled.
