• “I didn’t care for it” – Ricky Steamboat Takes A Shot At AEW Women’s Blood & Guts
AEW made history last Wednesday by hosting the first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts Match. Team Mercedes Moné walked out with the win after a violent showdown against Team Kris Statlander.
WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat was in attendance for the show and appeared in a segment with FTR, Stokely Hathaway and AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido.
Speaking to Bill Apter, Steamboat shared his thoughts on the Women’s Blood & Guts bout. He admitted that the match was difficult for him to enjoy due to how overwhelming the action felt.
“God bless those girls, you know, that were in that match, but I didn’t care for it. I don’t know if it was just too much. I thought personally – they had 16 girls in there or something like that, there’s just too much going on. You know, over in this one corner two girls are doing something, two or three girls doing something in the middle of the ring, then you go to the other ring and two or three girls are doing something.
You just you couldn’t focus on anything because there was just so much going on and for me it’s hard to react.”
• Ric Flair Apologizes To Fans
WWE Hall of Famers Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Ric Flair were in attendance for AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts last week.
While Steamboat appeared on the broadcast and was involved in a segment with FTR, Stokely Hathaway and AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido, Flair had to leave early due to pain from a recent rotator cuff tear.
The Nature Boy was present at the venue, but only made a brief appearance for the live crowd. AEW had to make adjustments to the show following his early departure.
Flair addressed the situation on X:
“I Want To Apologize To Everyone For Having To Leave The @AEW Show Early Last Wednesday Due To My Rotator Cuff Injury. I Appreciate @TonyKhan Giving Me The Opportunity To Be On The Show. It Was Nice Catching Up With All The Great Talent And Ricky Steamboat. I Look Forward To Being Invited Again. After I Have My Shoulder Healed Up, I Will Be Back Up & Running. I Just Want You All To Know That I Would Never Disappoint You Intentionally.”
• Update On Whether SmackDown’s 3-Hour Move In 2026 Will Be Permanent
WWE SmackDown is set to return to a three-hour format starting with the first show of 2026, according to last week’s report from WrestleVotes.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer provided an update on the news and revealed that there’s belief within WWE that the move to three hours in 2026 could follow a similar pattern as this year, with the show potentially reverting back to two hours later in the year.
It is important to note that WWE has not confirmed any plans regarding the change yet, and Alvarez clarified that this is not 100% certain.
