During his interview on the Johnny I Pro Show in Montreal, Bret Hart talked about two of the biggest draws in professional wrestling history: Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. While Bret has long been open about his feelings toward Goldberg’s in-ring safety, he offered new insight during this interview – including the revelation that Brock Lesnar himself wished he had the chance to work with him.
Discussing dream opponents from his era and beyond, Bret casually mentioned Brock Lesnar as someone he believes would have been a great matchup. Bret noted that he has heard repeatedly over the years that Lesnar wanted to face him. “I would like to wrestle Brock Lesnar. I’ve always understood that Brock Lesnar… I heard that he wished that he had wrestled me one time.”
Bret went on to describe the difference between Brock and Goldberg. According to Bret, Lesnar is known among wrestlers backstage as a consummate professional. “I’ve always heard from different guys that Brock Lesnar is… like a professional. Like he’s really good. He’s not like Goldberg.”
Without hesitation, he reiterated his long-standing belief that Goldberg was dangerously unsafe in the ring. “I’m just saying… he knows what the wrestling is all about and he does it right,” Bret said of Lesnar, before contrasting him again with Goldberg. “Some guys like Goldberg never understood it ever.”
Bret Hart Buries Sheamus: Learn How To Punch Instead Of Throwing That Embarrassment Of A Punch
Sheamus began his pro wrestling career in 2002 before making his WWE debut in 2009, and after nearly two decades with the company he’s widely regarded as one of WWE’s most reliable in-ring performers.
However, three-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart doesn’t share that praise. Speaking on Johnny I Pro Show, The Hitman criticized Sheamus’ striking technique.
“I see guys throwing punches, and they open their hand at the last second and slap the guy and then close it by the time they pull back. Who’s that Irish guy? Sheamus, does those all the time.
I see him and I’m like, ‘Why don’t you take 10 minutes and go down to have someone teach you how to throw a punch instead of throwing that embarrassment of a punch?’”
Back in 2023, Hart also mentioned being embarrassed sitting in the crowd at Clash At The Castle 2022, the night Sheamus faced GUNTHER in a widely acclaimed Intercontinental Championship match.

Also during this appearance, former WWF & WCW World Heavyweight Champion had the following to say about today’s wrestling:
“I have a hard time watching today’s wrestling. I just can’t really watch it. It’s too fake for me. But, I love watching the old 90s wrestling.
Like when I watch my matches back, or in almost any match, even obscure Stampede Wrestling matches, there’s something about the realism, the punches, the kicks, and even just the way the presentation is.
It just seems to me to be more onus put on the workmanship of learning the craft of being wrestlers.”
