Vince Russo, alongside guests Stevie Richards and Bin Hamin on his podcast, argued that Triple H’s current performance as WWE’s booker makes him the worst in modern history, claiming the latest episode of RAW demonstrated a profound failure in storytelling and logic.
Russo made a declaration, stating, “I am now going to make the declaration without a shadow of a doubt, Triple H is the worst booker I have ever seen since 1971.” This harsh judgment stems from what Russo views as inexcusable storytelling blunders following a major premium live event.
The primary source of Russo’s frustration was the lack of follow-up on a key angle from Survivor Series: WarGames. At the event, a masked man interfered to cost Team CM Punk the victory. Russo found it baffling that the subsequent RAW completely failed to advance this major plot point.
Russo criticized the absence of the wronged babyfaces, asking, “You’ve got a masked guy at the WarGames screw the babyface team. And none of the babyfaces are on Monday Night RAW to get answers and find out who effed them.” He called the oversight “unbelievable” and questioned the fundamental logic of the booking.
The only effort made to address the mystery was criticized as a trivial plot device. The host noted that “the only one that seems to care about it is Adam Pearce. And he cares about it to the point, Stevie, of putting a referee on it.” Russo said, “It would have been like Tony Soprano getting shot… and then Tony not being in the next episode.”
The panel also mocked the episode being promoted as “epic,” arguing that the show’s payoff was anything but. Russo stated that the logical “epic” moment would have been the reveal of the masked man’s identity. Instead, Russo claimed he had to wait until the final moments of the show for the supposed “epic” moment.
Russo talked about the show’s main event being a women’s match, saying, “I’m going to say at the very end when Lyra ‘Velcro’ and Bayley hit the ring, I’m going to say that was the epic that Triple H was talking about.” He dismissed the segment’s importance, lamenting, “That’s epic hack. It made me puke, bro.”
He further pointed out the poor crowd reaction the segment received: “she comes out to the ring and it’s crickets cuz it’s really meaningless cuz there’s no story in anything, man.”
Russo admitted that he only watched the show because he knew it would be poor, concluding, “I wanted to be able to bury Triple H this morning. That’s why I watched the show.”
