Last night, Independent promotion Enjoy Wrestling had to stop its 5-year anniversary event early after Andy Williams, known in AEW as The Butcher, suffered a sudden and serious medical emergency.
Everything seemed to be going as planned until Williams’ legs gave out near the finish of his match. His tag team partner, The Blade, quickly called for help and tried to get him back on his feet, but Williams went down a second time and lost consciousness. Williams was rushed to the hospital.
Enjoy Wrestling issued the following statement after the incident:
“Andy collapsed at the end of his match this evening.
Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived.
We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now waiting for more information.
Thanks to everyone who helped and has reached out.”
TMZ has now confirmed that Andy has passed away at the age of 48.
