• MVP Calls Out “Overt Racism” In WrestleMania Storyline

The controversial WrestleMania 19 rivalry between Triple H and Booker T continues to spark heated debate, with AEW star MVP labeling the storyline a prime example of “overt racism” in the industry.

On the Marking Out podcast, MVP didn’t hold back while discussing the evolution of wrestling characters. He specifically highlighted the 2003 buildup to the World Heavyweight Championship match, where Triple H’s dialogue toward Booker T — which included telling him “people like you” don’t win world titles — became a flashpoint for fan outrage.

To MVP, it was a disturbing creative choice that he believes reflects poorly on the people behind the character.

“I think racist characters now, they’re not good for you. And people know I always go in on Triple H and how I don’t like him or respect him. But if you look at that promo that he cut on Booker T going into WrestleMania (19), it was this overt racism.

I don’t know why anybody would, especially in modern times, would want to present their character as an overt racist. I don’t know what that does for you, especially in these modern times in terms of heat, when we all know it’s entertainment. It makes me wonder what motivates you. I don’t know. I just think that that doesn’t go well.”

While Booker T himself has often taken a more diplomatic stance, stating he doesn’t lose sleep over the loss, the angle remains one of the most hated in WWE history for a couple of reasons.

The promos were widely viewed as tone-deaf and racially charged, even for the standards of the early-2000s. Many felt the story demanded a redemption win for Booker T. Instead, Triple H won the match after a delayed pinfall, a result that left a lasting bitter taste for many viewers.

• Backstage News On Logan Paul vs. Bad Bunny

While Logan Paul has been very vocal about his desire to share the ring with Bad Bunny, new reports suggest that fans hoping for a blockbuster showdown between the two stars at WrestleMania 42 are likely to be disappointed.

The Wrestling Observer confirmed that there are currently no matches on the books involving the pair. While the idea of a tag team match has been heavily discussed behind the scenes, internal sources indicate that it is not on the schedule for the near future.

The consensus within the industry is that while the match is viewed as an inevitable “someday” attraction, it is not a part of WWE’s immediate creative plans.

This update cools the speculation that had been building since Paul’s comments. The Vision member has repeatedly championed the idea, even going as far as to claim a match with the Grammy-winning rapper would be the “greatest WWE match of all time.”

Despite Paul’s public lobbying and his admission that conversations have “floated around,” the logistics for a spring appearance apparently haven’t materialized.
