• Currently Planned Opening Matches For Night 1 & 2 Of WrestleMania 42
WWE has finalized the opening matches for WrestleMania 42, and they are starting both nights with massive star power.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the current plan is to feature a mix of high-energy celebrities and heavy hitters to kick off the show in Las Vegas.
Night 1 Opener: A huge 6-man tag team match featuring The Usos & LA Knight taking on the team of IShowSpeed and World Tag Team Champions The Vision (Logan Paul and Austin Theory). This match is clearly designed to grab the attention of younger fans and social media followers right away.
Night 2 Opener: A powerhouse battle between former NXT Champion Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. This is a massive passing of the torch moment for Femi, who will be standing across the ring from one of the biggest names in history.
The decision to put Brock Lesnar in the opening slot for Sunday wasn’t just a random choice. ESPN reportedly pushed hard to have Lesnar included in the block of matches being shown on their traditional cable platforms. WWE was more than happy to agree, knowing that Lesnar’s name will draw in casual sports fans who might not usually watch wrestling.
As always with WrestleMania, these plans could change at the last second, but right now, WWE is betting on these big names to set the tone for the entire weekend.
