• “I’m not really at 100% for WrestleMania 42” – Current Champion
During an interview on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Stephanie Vaquer revealed that she’s not 100% health wise heading into her Women’s World Championship defense against Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42. Here’s what La Primera said:
“Am I hurting? If you talk about injuries, no, I’m good. But after 12 years of my career, my body hurts. So I do need to recover, but I don’t have injuries.
I’m not really at 100% for WrestleMania 42. I still need to recover from many little things in my body, but I don’t have an injury.
I’m always training, but not like before because I don’t have time. Sometimes I’m so tired, sometimes I need to recover, like my ankle and knee. I need more time.
The time here is so…we now have to stop, have a day off. It’s good, but at the same time my body feels hurt, and that’s normal since I’m a pro wrestler. But yeah, sometimes I think I do need to take care of my body more.”
• Top Star Says WWE Does Not Cater To Its Talent At All
WWE wrestlers have one of the most demanding schedules in the industry, spending a large part of the year on the road. Despite being part of a global company, many aspects of their day-to-day responsibilities are handled on their own.
While speaking to Dan Soder on the Soder Podcast, former Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch opened up about the realities of working in WWE and revealed that talent are largely responsible for taking care of themselves when it comes to travel and presentation.
“I mean this politely, we’re not catered to. At all. Maybe there are a couple of folks…as you get more into it, you put up with less sh*t, but we pay for our own gear. They’re not getting us gear. We buy our own gear. We buy our own rental cars and our own hotels. We are in charge of booking those hotels and booking those rental cars.
I think that’s why, actually, when we go to work at other places, whether it be ‘Billions’ or wherever, people are pleasantly surprised at how easy going we are because we’re not used to being catered to. We don’t expect anything. We don’t expect anybody to look after us. We are standardly so self-sufficient.”
Becky Lynch will challenge AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 – Night 1 in Las Vegas this weekend.
