• 4 Wrestlers Depart WWE

The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have mutually decided to leave WWE. They were moved to the alumni section on WWE’s website this morning.

Fightful Select and Cory Hays of Bodyslam also confirmed that JC Mateo and Tonga Loa of The MFTs are gone from the company as well.

They were added to the alumni section as well. Both of them were absent from last night’s SmackDown.

• WWE Releases Were Age-Based

WWE released 25 wrestlers last week. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one of the key factors behind the releases was age, as WWE is said to be focusing on building a younger roster moving forward.

The report notes that the final calls largely came down to Chief Content Officer Triple H, who played the leading role in deciding who would stay and who would be let go. WWE President Nick Khan was also involved in the process, providing input on the decisions.

In addition, Bruce Prichard and Ed Koskey were part of the internal discussions, though Triple H was reportedly the central figure driving the final outcome.

Overall, the changes appear to be part of a broader shift in WWE’s direction as the company looks to refresh its roster with younger talent.

• Zelina Vega Ghosted Tony Khan The Last Time She Got Released From WWE

A new detail has emerged about Zelina Vega’s previous WWE exit and her potential move to All Elite Wrestling.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW did reach out to Vega after she was released by WWE in November 2020. At the time, Tony Khan reportedly entered into discussions with her about a possible deal.

However, the talks didn’t go very far. The report claims that communication eventually stopped on Vega’s side, with her “ghosting” Khan during the process before ultimately deciding to return to WWE instead.

Vega later re-signed with WWE in 2021, bringing a quick end to any chance of her joining AEW at that time. Now that she has been released from WWE again, speculation has started regarding her and Aleister Black joining Khan’s promotion.
