• Old School Wrestling Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 86th birthday of Old School Wrestling Veteran Les Thornton.

After wrestling in his home country England, UK during the 60s, Thornton came to the United States and wrestled for several NWA territories during the 70s and 80s, such as Georgia Championship Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida & Jim Crockett Promotions, before finally joining the World Wrestling Federation in 1984 in the process of Vince McMahon buying Georgia Championship Wrestling and signing a few of their regulars.

Despite being a star and a well respected Veteran in several territories, he only made it to lower mid-card / undercard status in the WWF and left the promotion in 1986.

• BREAKING NEWS: UFC 249 Cancelled, All UFC Events Postponed Indefinitely

UFC President Dana White has confirmed that this month’s UFC 249 pay-per-view has been cancelled and all UFC events have been postponed indefinitely, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ariel Helwani is reporting the following about this situation:

“UFC 249, which was supposed to happen on April 18, has been cancelled.

Dana White confirms to Brett Okamoto that he was asked to ‘stand down’ by top Disney/ESPN executives and so he is doing so.”

UFC 249 was originally scheduled to feature a long awaited fight in the main event, where the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov was set to defend his UFC Lightweight Championship against Tony Ferguson.

However, the fight got changed to Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje for the Interim Lightweight Championship when Khabib pulled out.

While UFC will no longer be doing any events for the foreseeable future, WWE is still going on with their weekly shows and monthly pay-per-views.
