At AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024, Stephanie Vaquer’s standout performance against Mercedes Mone caught the attention of WWE, leading to her eventual signing with the company.

Vaquer decided to vacate both the CMLL Women’s Tag Team and Women’s Championships, citing personal reasons that also kept her from competing in FantasticaMania.

Fightful Select reports that Vaquer’s departure from the Mexican wrestling scene appears amicable, with industry reactions indicating she likely won’t return.

AEW sources acknowledged her strong showing in her feud with Mercedes, speculating that WWE reached out to her shortly after Forbidden Door.

The speed of her move to WWE surprised some.

Though AEW insiders understood WWE’s interest in top talent, they raised concerns about Vaquer being pulled from CMLL dates before she could properly relinquish her titles.

However, her swift involvement in WWE Mexico events helped ease some of the criticism, as it showed WWE handled the transition more smoothly than just signing her away abruptly.

WWE seems satisfied with Vaquer so far, and she seems to be thriving in her new environment.

Meanwhile, sources from AEW and NJPW suggested that future participants in Forbidden Door or joint AEW events may need to agree not to jump to WWE immediately after, though no formal rule has been confirmed.
