• AEW Star Not Cleared To Compete After Full Gear Win

Kyle O’Reilly scored a big win at AEW Full Gear by forcing Jon Moxley to submit in their No Holds Barred match, marking the second time in just ten days that Moxley has tapped out to him. The victory was a statement performance for O’Reilly, whose technical style once again proved too much for the former AEW World Champion.

However, the celebration was cut short. After the match, Moxley showed respect to O’Reilly, but then attacked his arm – the same arm he targeted throughout their bout. The post-match assault left O’Reilly unable to leave under his own power, and members of The Conglomeration helped him backstage.

Later at the Full Gear post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan addressed O’Reilly’s condition. Khan said O’Reilly “probably” would not be medically cleared in time to compete in the upcoming Continental Classic tournament, despite O’Reilly being eager to take part. Khan noted that O’Reilly had been looking forward to the tournament and that missing it would be a disappointment for him.

Khan confirmed that the full lineup for the Continental Classic will be announced early this week. The tournament is set to begin on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. At this point, only AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, and Konosuke Takeshita have been officially announced for the field.

On the January 24th episode of SmackDown, Apollo Crews defeated Johnny Gargano. Crews tore his pectoral muscle during this match, but still managed to finish it. He had to undergo surgery.

After being out of action for 10 months, Crews made his return from injury last night and made his AAA debut.

Before AAA Alianzas started airing, Lince Dorado issued an open challenge in a dark match and it was answered by the returning Crews, who went on to pick up the win.

• Lucha Brothers Set To Face 2 RAW Stars After Reuniting For The First Time Since Leaving AEW

The Lucha Brothers were one of the top Tag Teams in AEW for years. Penta left the company in 2024, while Rey Fénix parted ways earlier this year.

Both men eventually made their way to WWE, but debuted at different times and on different brands. Penta joined the RAW roster, while Fénix arrived later on SmackDown, keeping the brothers apart during their first months in the company.

Last night, the duo finally reunited on AAA Alianzas. After AAA Mega Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano defeated El Hijo del Vikingo and Dragon Lee in a Tag Team match, The Lucha Brothers appeared on the titantron and issued a major challenge.

They called out Dirty Dom and Americano for a match at AAA Guerra de Titanes on December 20, which was accepted.

The Lucha Bros last teamed up on an episode of AEW Rampage in July 2024.
