Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving The Royal Rumble and Goldberg.
• Fans eagerly await surprise entries in the Men’s & Women’s Royal Rumble matches every year, including returning stars and those on hiatus. However, Malakai Black, who is reportedly leaving AEW, will not be part of this year’s event.
PWInsider confirmed Black’s departure from AEW, noting that no plans are in place for him to make final appearances with the company. Additionally, “he would not be free and clear in time for the WWE Royal Rumble Match.”
Previously, PWTorch reported that influential figures in WWE are strong advocates for Black, viewing him as a potential top singles star.
Black’s contract with All Elite Wrestling is expected to expire by February or March and he will be free to sign with any promotion at that time. His wife, Zelina Vega, is signed to WWE, which makes his return to the company a very real possibility.

• LA Knight has made it clear that his rise to prominence in WWE wasn’t the result of being handed opportunities, but rather the product of relentless effort and determination.
Speaking on The Getting Over podcast, Knight reflected on his journey, contrasting it with Goldberg’s meteoric rise in WCW. While Goldberg was positioned for greatness from the start, Knight emphasized that his success came from carving his own path.
“I mean, it’s made a crazy turn and honestly, even though it’s been a long, long road, it’s been such a short, incredibly, damn near record-setting journey,” Knight said. He pointed out that the past 10 to 12 months have been unprecedented in WWE history. “I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this.”
Knight further highlighted the difference between himself and Goldberg, stating, “Goldberg was slated to be in that position,” whereas Knight had to fight for everything. “Here’s a guy who had none of that and still was able to make it happen.” With characteristic flair, Knight added, “I have to toot my own horn, so toot toot, because I’ve been the only one tooting it for this long, so I will continue to toot all the way down the road.”
Knight’s self-confidence and candid reflections underline the unique trajectory of his WWE career, earning him recognition as one of the company’s most compelling stars today.
