• AEW World Champion MJF Suffered An Injury On Dynamite
An independent wrestling show in Rhode Island had to scramble after AEW World Champion MJF pulled out of his scheduled match due to a legitimate knee injury.
Beyond Wrestling officially announced that the champion hyperextended his knee during his No Count Outs match against Rush on last night’s episode of Dynamite. Because of the mishap, doctors refused to clear him to travel or compete, forcing him to cancel his planned bout against Bobby Orlando.
Fortunately for fans and AEW management, the situation does not seem to be a worst-case scenario. Bryan Alvarez confirmed that while the injury is completely legitimate and not part of a storyline, there is widespread optimism backstage that it is relatively minor.
The company is currently hoping that MJF won’t have to miss a significant amount of ring time.
Beyond Wrestling issued the following statement:
“Unfortunately MJF hyperextended his knee during his match last night & is not medically cleared to travel or compete. He will not be in Cranston tomorrow night but assured me he will wrestle for Beyond Wrestling as soon as his schedule allows. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
• Will Ospreay Responds After Fan Says Mask vs. Mask Will Be Remembered More Than Any Of His Matches
In the main event of WWE’s AAA Noche de los Grandes, El Grande Americano defeated Original El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask match. After the match, the original Americano unmasked and was revealed to be Chad Gable.
WWE talked about this highly-acclaimed match a lot on this week’s RAW and aired a special recap of it after RAW ended.
A fan wrote on X that this match will be remembered more than any match AEW star Will Ospreay has ever had.
Ospreay saw this tweet and replied:
“Yet 10 years on people still talk about the ricochet match.
I still get tagged in the Ibushi rana spot
First British person to ever win the IWGP title
Had Assassins Creed rehire Ezio to narrate me to Wembley
And if you can’t remember any of the matches is because people barely remember what happened last week let alone 14 years of consistently being on top my field without ever being promoted by anything from the Fed.
Mask vs mask was f**king awesome, won’t take anything away from it but I’m in my own lane never trying to compete with anyone but myself.
But continue the conversation, I’ll keep myself busy making towns”
On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Ospreay advanced to the finals of the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
