Anthony Ogogo faced Cody Rhodes at the AEW Double Or Nothing 2021 PPV and lost.
During an interview with Boxing Scene, Ogogo talked about the February 2nd episode of WWE SmackDown, where Cody Rhodes handed his WrestleMania 40 main event match against Roman Reigns to The Rock, and revealed the text message that he sent to The American Nightmare after that segment.
Here’s what Ogogo said:
“I saw Cody in the ring with The Rock the other day. I saw it on YouTube, over a 100 million views or whatever and I took a screenshot. And I just thought, ‘F**k. I was in the ring with him a couple of years ago, now he’s in with the biggest star in the world’. Everyone knows The Rock.
I’m happy for Cody. He’s a very good professional wrestler. He’s worked hard. He’s bet on himself. I’m happy for him.
And I text Cody and said, ‘Mate, this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Buzzing for you. Go get it’.
That’s what I text him. And I mean that, it’s a big thing for him.”
As we all know, Cody took his main event spot back during the WrestleMania XL Kickoff press conference.
He will have a rematch against The Tribal Chief for the WWE Championship at the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania.
