Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, featuring SummerSlam 2024 and CM Punk.

• All Elite Wrestling rescheduled this Saturday’s Collision to an earlier start time of 5 PM ET on TNT, to avoid going head-to-head with the WWE SummerSlam 2024 premium live event.

However, they will still face head-to-head competition as WWE announced during RAW on Monday that SummerSlam will have a three-hour pre-show beginning at 4 PM ET, with the main PLE show starting at 7 PM ET.

The Wrestling Observer reported that AEW originally planned to air Collision on Friday night to avoid clashing with SummerSlam, but those plans changed:

“They moved Collision to not go head-to-head, that’s why it’s on at 5 o’clock. I had thought they were going to put Collision on Friday night, which at one point was the plan. That’s why they’re taping on Thursday this week.

They’re not going to do a good number for Collision. It’s gonna be brutal between SummerSlam and the Olympics. It’s gonna be real, real tough for Collision this week.”

AEW Collision has previously gone head-to-head with WWE PLEs like Royal Rumble and Money In The Bank in 2024. Collision drew 300,000 viewers against the Rumble (which is Collision’s lowest viewership ever) and 306,000 viewers against MITB.
