15 Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will be taking some time off from WWE after his loss to AJ Styles at SummerSlam 2016.
Cena will film the second season of American Grit during his time off from WWE.
There are plans for Cena to resume his feud with “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles when he returns. If they have a third singles match, then expect Cena to get the win this time as Cena has lost both of his singles matches with Styles.
It should be noted that Styles will face Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship at Backlash 2016. If Styles wins the Title and goes on to retain the Title in their rematch as well, then Styles vs. Cena III could end up being for the WWE World Title as well.
If it indeed ends up being for the WWE World Title, then this would turn into a tough decision for WWE (unless they go for a DQ/Count-Out finish): They either book Cena to take another loss from Cena, or they book him to win the WWE World Title and become a 16 time World Champion (and tie Ric Flair for the most World Title reigns).
