Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, involving Bobby Lashley and Joe Hendry.

• Bobby Lashley has signed with AEW and many were expecting him to debut at WrestleDream, but that didn’t happen.

During WrestleDream, Swerve Strickland returned and confronted MVP and Shelton Benjamin, recognizing MVP’s role in opening doors for Black wrestlers. Despite this, Swerve rejected MVP’s offer, causing tension with Benjamin, which led to a heated exchange.

According to WrestlePurists, AEW postponed Lashley’s debut to ensure it stands out, believing they had enough major storylines at WrestleDream and didn’t want Lashley’s introduction to be overshadowed:

Fightful Select shared another reason why Lashley didn’t debut at WrestleDream:

“Considering that the likely debut would have resulted in Swerve being laid out or attacked, it’s not likely two hometown beat downs (along with Bryan Danielson) would have worked out well with the way the show ended.”

• TNA star Joe Hendry has had a great year so far, gaining attention in TNA Wrestling and making several appearances on WWE NXT. His popularity surged after participating in a battle royal on NXT TV, part of the ongoing crossover between the two promotions. Despite receiving the loudest reaction during his entrance, Hendry was the first competitor eliminated from the match.

Since then, Hendry has taken on various roles in NXT, including commentary, wrestling matches, performing a live concert, and featuring in backstage segments. His most notable appearance came at NXT No Mercy, where he lost to Ethan Page in the main event for the NXT Title.

When a fan suggested that Hendry’s momentum had stalled, he responded by saying the comment would not age well in four months, hinting at a possible surprise appearance in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match. His current TNA contract is expected to end next year.

Hendry is set to challenge Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Bound For Glory on October 26.
