14-Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton is currently out of action with a back injury.
He hasn’t wrestled since May 2022 and was written off WWE programming after a vicious storyline assault led by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns along with The Bloodline.
The Viper underwent a lower back fusion surgery, which resulted in the original plan for the SummerSlam 2022 main event being canceled – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
As we reported earlier, Orton was seen arriving at the WWE Performance Center today, to train for his eventual return to WWE programming.

Bodyslam provided the following update regarding Orton’s status after he was seen arriving at the PC:
“Orton has been training for his return at the Performance Center for the past 3 weeks. Orton’s tour bus has been a weekly constant at the Performance Center during the past few weeks. We were unable to confirm who Orton has been working with to prepare for his return as of this writing.”
According to Fightful Select, WWE sources continue to insist that Orton isn’t close to making an in-ring return, that’s why his arrival at the Performance Center wasn’t hidden.
When a wrestler is scheduled to make a surprise return, WWE usually hides their public appearances until they return on TV.
Last month, it was reported that Orton has resumed weight training, and sources were told that he’s “huge”. However, he hasn’t gotten to training in the ring yet and hasn’t taken an in-ring bump for a long time.
