Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Vince McMahon, The Rock and Cody Rhodes.
• On the latest episode of his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley addressed the new Vince McMahon allegations.
Here’s what the former WWF Champion said:
“His belief in me made all the difference in the world from just being another guy to being, you know, one of his main guys during that Attitude Era.
You can tell if anyone who has listened to a single episode (of this podcast) knows the great fondness that I have for Mr. McMahon.
I don’t know all the facts but man, it’s really ugly. I feel very similar, just like that ‘dead inside feeling’ the way I had in 2007 after the Benoit murders and man, I hope it doesn’t take away from people’s amazing memories of all the things that Mr. McMahon created or helped create, including my character and the programs that I was in and was such a big part of it.”
• As we noted earlier, PWInsider reported that WWE Officials are monitoring the negative response on Social Media to The Rock replacing Cody Rhodes in the WrestleMania 40 main event spot, so there’s a chance that WWE might change plans as nothing is officially announced so far.
Some fans have taken their support for Cody too far and have openly sent death threats to The Rock over this storyline.
In an update, some fans have sent death threats to The Rock’s daughter Ava as well, who is the General Manager of NXT.
Ava tweeted the following about this situation:
“Can ya’ll just leave me out of this ffs I’m busy running a SHOW
Death threats over a situation I have nothing to do with … bffr”
