According to Fightful Select, former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio once again claimed that there are plans in WWE of having him return in the not-so distant future.
However, there is a trusted source within WWE, who clearly ruled out a possible comeback for (the self proclaimed) Mexico’s Greatest Export.
The source was quoted saying: “No f***ing chance.”
A similar situation took place in March 2020, briefly before the 1st lockdown, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Back then, Del Rio made the following comments regarding WWE during an interview with Nos Cayó La Noche in Mexico:
“We have been in communication. We have rebuilt the bridge. On their part, they were wrong on some decisions and I also did some things wrong on my part. I am hoping that we can reach an agreement sometime this year or by the middle of this year I’ll be back there.”
talkSPORT then reacted and confirmed that there were no talks between Alberto and WWE:
“I’m told [Triple H] absolutely didn’t reach out to Del Rio for what that’s worth. Nor did anyone.”
Alberto Del Rio had two notable runs in WWE. His first stint began in 2010 and quickly rose to prominence, winning the WWE Championship and the Royal Rumble. However, his first run ended in 2014.
Del Rio returned in 2015 for his second WWE run but struggled to regain the same level of success. Despite some memorable moments, his second stint didn’t match the impact of his initial run.
