Below are some top AEW news stories of the day, involving Goldberg and Kenny Omega.

• Goldberg is currently not under an active contract with WWE, and as 2024 approaches, speculation arises about his future in wrestling. He expressed a desire for a retirement match in Israel, but no official confirmation has been made.

Although there are no immediate plans for Goldberg to debut in All Elite Wrestling, there has been communication between him and AEW President Tony Khan in the past.

AEW has a good relationship with Goldberg’s representative, Barry Bloom, who has helped secure contracts for other notable wrestlers with the promotion.

Due to this, Sean Ross Sapp noted in November that he believes the WCW Legend will eventually debut in AEW.

PWInsider reported the following about the possibility of Goldberg joining AEW:

“Nothing that I am aware of. Tony Khan noted in the past he’s spoken with Goldberg and he’s obviously on good terms with WWE, so you never know. But, nothing on the horizon I am aware.”

• Kenny Omega is dealing with diverticulitis, which he announced a week ago, and is grateful for the timely diagnosis.

This health issue has affected AEW’s plans for its World End 2023 pay-per-view event, originally featuring Omega and Chris Jericho against AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill. The match is no longer listed, and it’s unclear how AEW will handle the titles and participants in Omega’s absence.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Omega received the diagnosis after the December 13th Dynamite show, emphasizing the severity of the situation and how fortunate Omega was to seek medical attention promptly:

“He was told when diagnosed that he was very lucky he went in because the situation could have been catastrophic, such as getting a blood infection, if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50% chance of death.”
