Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre & CM Punk.
• Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match by eliminating CM Punk in the end.
After the match, Cody pointed towards Roman Reigns and signaled that he’s coming for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The American Nightmare also confirmed during the press conference that he’s coming for The Tribal Chief in the main event of WrestleMania 40.
On this week’s RAW, Seth Rollins tried to convince Cody to face him for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, and Cody said he’ll think about it.
TheWrestlingBlog reported the following about the possibility of The Tribal Chief losing the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL if he faces Rhodes in a rematch from last year:
“There’s a good amount of support for the idea of Roman Reigns losing the title at WrestleMania 40, as the feeling is that a lot of the rivalries that WWE has left for Roman Reigns don’t need the title moving forward.”
• On last night’s RAW, CM Punk announced that he tore his triceps during the Men’s Royal Rumble match and will miss WrestleMania 40.
Drew McIntyre came out and said he prayed for Punk’s injury and it happened.
McIntyre then said he is going to live Punk’s dream of main eventing WrestleMania now and he’s going to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
