Samoa Joe defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship in the main event of the Worlds End PPV.

MJF passed out to Joe’s Coquina Clutch. Adam Cole was ringside for the match and was shocked.

After the match, Adam Cole was revealed as The Devil and his goons were Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven. They beat up MJF to end the show.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Joe was always supposed to win the Title at this show:

“Joe was always going to win, even before Max got hurt. Joe was always going to win the title on this show. So, I mean, in that sense, the title did not change hands because [MJF is] hurt. It was always the plan.”

Fightful Select reports that MJF is expected to take time off now:

“Many that Fightful spoke to immediately following AEW Worlds End said that they expect MJF to be off TV for a while immediately, if not almost immediately.

MJF had sustained a plethora of injuries during his AEW Title reign, but was adamant that he wanted to see it through.

As MJF is often influential in his own creative, there’s always a chance he could insist on an absence not happening, but it’s expected internally.

MJF has long said that his AEW contract is up at the start of 2024. He’s not told anyone any different, but WWE sources have claimed that they’ve not had conversations with him, though there was interest as recently as a year ago.”
