Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Shane McMahon and Kayla Braxton.
• Recent rumors suggesting Shane McMahon might be heading to AEW have taken many by surprise, especially those within AEW itself. According to a report from Fightful Select, discussions at AEW have not included McMahon at any significant level. When curious talents asked higher-ups about the possibility of Shane McMahon joining AEW, they were told it was not being considered.
Tony Khan also said in an interview that he has never talked to Shane.
Adding to the improbability, it’s reported that Vince McMahon had previously assured WWE personnel that Shane would “never get another pop in the company again” following the controversy at the Royal Rumble 2022 event. During that PLE, Shane O’Mac was accused of attempting to dominate the Men’s Royal Rumble match for his own benefit while causing trouble backstage, leading to his suspension.
Despite these tensions, Shane McMahon did make an appearance at WrestleMania 39 after Vince McMahon’s departure from WWE, although he suffered an injury during the event.
It’s also important to note that Shane McMahon is currently not under any contract with WWE, be it as talent or legend. His inclusion in the WWE 2K24 video game is reported to be part of a separate agreement.
With no official ties to WWE and no concrete discussions within All Elite Wrestling, it seems the rumors of Shane McMahon joining AEW are just that — rumors.

• Kayla Braxton, a well-known figure on WWE television for nearly 8 years, is set to part ways with the company following the June 28th edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
In an emotional announcement, Braxton expressed her deep gratitude for her time at WWE. She highlighted her diverse roles, including backstage interviewer, ring announcer, and host of “The Bump,” reflecting fondly on her journey and professional growth within the company.
Braxton credited WWE with honing her skills and opening doors to new opportunities, particularly in Los Angeles where she currently resides. She specifically acknowledged the mentorship of Paul Heyman and Michael Cole, citing their significant influence on her career development.
The Wrestling Observer disclosed that Braxton has been in discussions with AEW, among other potential opportunities. Braxton’s decision to explore other ventures might have been influenced by perceived shifts in WWE’s priorities.
The Observer noted that with Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond emerging as WWE’s primary choices, Braxton may have felt it was time to seek new challenges elsewhere.
“There definitely was talk between her and AEW. She was looking into other things as well. It was one of those things – I was told she could see the handwriting on the wall. They pretty much had decided that Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond were gonna be the two top ones. So she was number three. So I think by that, she kind of could see maybe it’s time to go somewhere else.”
Currently, Braxton continues to work under a verbal arrangement with WWE, leaving speculation open about her next career move.
