• Backstage Update On AEW’s Plan For ROH

AEW President Tony Khan now owns ROH Wrestling. Tony said the following about the purchase in the press release:

“Ring of Honor’s influence on modern professional wrestling is etched permanently in the history books, and this acquisition ensures that its legacy will be kept alive and treated with the utmost respect.

This deal adds thousands of hours of content to our rapidly growing library and creates new opportunities to expand our footprint on a national and global scale, while having the potential to produce new content under the ROH banner.

I will immediately begin exploring opportunities to make ROH’s video library available to fans, who’ll have the opportunity to witness the beginnings of the careers of some of AEW’s biggest stars.”

According to Bodyslam, All Elite Wrestling plans on using Ring Of Honor as their developmental territory:

“When asking around about the sale of ROH and plans for the company going forward, sources confirmed to me that internal plans call for AEW to utilize Ring of Honor as a developmental territory of sorts.

Additionally, it was said that ‘Main Roster’ AEW Talent will be dipping into the ROH brand on occasion.”

• ON THIS DAY IN NWA HISTORY (March 2, 1985) – Championship Wrestling From Georgia

On this day in 1985, Ole Anderson aired an episode of his new TV show ‘Championship Wrestling From Georgia’ on Ted Turner’s channel TBS.

The story was that after Vince McMahon’s WWF bought the ‘Georgia Championship Wrestling’ territory and the TBS timeslot that came with it, too many people complained to Ted Turner’s TV station, that they want to see their well known NWA wrestlers again, instead of the new WWF program that they got as a replacement.

So therefore Ole Anderson received a seperate morning time slot on TBS for his new promotion ‘Championship Wrestling From Georgia’, that had several NWA Wrestling Superstars on their show.

You can find the card below:

– NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair vs. Doug Vines (from JCP)

– Rip Rogers / Tommy Rich confrontation

– Devil Blue vs. Dave Fields
