• Bad News For WWE NXT
This week’s episode of WWE NXT on May 12 hit a record low in the ratings, struggling to find its usual audience on the CW Network.
According to Programming Insider, only 498,000 people tuned in this past Tuesday, which is a big drop from the 641,000 viewers who watched just a week earlier. This marks the smallest audience the show has ever had during its normal time slot on its home network.
NXT also saw its lowest rating ever in the important 18-to-49 age group. The rating fell to a 0.06, which is nearly half of the 0.11 it earned the week before.
This week’s show featured Naraku’s in-ring debut (fka EVIL in NJPW) and Mason Rook signing his NXT contract.
• Buddy Matthews Returns After 15 Months Despite Not Being Cleared (Video)
Buddy Matthews made a surprise return to the ring in Australia, but fans will have to wait a little longer to see him actually wrestle.
During the WSW Rise Against event, Matthews snuck into the ring wearing a black hoodie and used a steel chair to attack Donovan Dijak. After laying him out with a stomp, he grabbed a microphone to give the crowd an update on his status. He explained that while he isn’t healthy enough to compete just yet, he expects to be officially cleared to return to action this October.

This was the first time fans have seen Matthews since he hurt his ankle during a match against Kazuchika Okada in February 2025. Even though he accidentally rolled his ankle before that match even started, he pushed through the pain and wrestled for over 13 minutes.
He has been sidelined ever since that night at AEW Grand Slam Australia, so his appearance this week was a big sign that his recovery is finally almost finished. It looks like he already has his sights set on Dijak once he is fully healed in the fall.
