Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Batista and Sid.

• Batista has expressed his openness to being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Although he was announced as an inductee in 2020, the ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic, and Batista was unable to attend the rescheduled 2021 event due to prior commitments.

In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Batista revealed his willingness to be inducted in the future, stating that he had agreed to it when Triple H first approached him. He mentioned that the induction was initially set for Los Angeles, where he won his first title, making it a “perfect, storybook moment”.

Here’s what the 6-time World Champion said:

“Eventually, I will. I want to, and there was a good opportunity for me to go in a couple of years ago. I agreed to do it — Hunter asked me to do it — and I said, ‘Yeah, of course.’

It was going to be in LA, and I thought it was perfect; it was storybook because I won my first title here in LA. However, we couldn’t figure it out because I was working on a film in South Africa, so logistically, we just couldn’t make it happen.

But yes, I’m still open to it, and one day I would like to.”

• A gruesome moment occurred during the WCW Sin 2001 pay-per-view, where Sid Vicious suffered a severe leg injury while attempting a big boot off the second rope. The injury, which resulted in a graphic fracture of both his tibia and fibula, marked a turning point in Sid’s life.

Current TNA wrestler PCO (Quebecer Pierre in WWF and Carl Ouellet in WCW) was Sid’s close friend and recalled this incident during an interview on Busted Open Radio, describing it as a life-altering accident for Sid.

The aftermath involved significant mental and physical challenges, including extreme pain from surgery, where doctors inserted a steel rod into Sid’s leg. After an extensive rehabilitation process, Sid eventually returned to the ring as PCO’s mystery tag team partner at a June 2004 Internet Wrestling Syndicate event.

Here’s what PCO said about this incident:

“After his accident, he was very, very different. He would change his mind all the time. He was very confused. I don’t think he ever, ever accepted the injury. I don’t want to put the blame on anybody, but he felt like he was forced to do that scissor kick, that bomb kick or whatever.

He wanted to just give a straight up big boot. He didn’t want to jump and do the scissor (kick); he wanted to jump, but just do a straight, normal big boot.

[WCW officials and Sid] had an argument in the back. ‘Nah it’s going to be nicer,’ and blah, blah, blah. Then that happened, and that changed the whole course of his life.”
