• “Be as h0e-y as possible, dress up to your a$$” – Becky Lynch Reveals WWE’s Early Demands From Female Stars

Becky Lynch has been in the wrestling business for more than two decades, starting her career in 2002 before signing with WWE in 2013. But according to her, the environment she entered was far from ideal for women trying to break into the company.

While WWE has undergone major changes in recent years, Lynch says the expectations for female talent were very different when she arrived.

Speaking on Something’s Burning with Bert Kreischer, Lynch recalled what the company wanted women to look like at the time.

“At the time when you were a girl in WWE, you always had to go to the shows in nice dresses. I was in NXT, so you have to be as h0e-y as possible, right? You have to be, like, dress up to your a$$, low as can be. Like this was the aesthetic. I didn’t suit the aesthetic, but I knew it.”

Lynch also revealed in the same interview that a male talent attempted to use his influence to control female wrestlers’ careers, threatening to blacklist women whether they rejected him or ended up sleeping with him.

Becky Lynch’s rise to superstardom reached its peak when she won in the first women’s WrestleMania main event back in 2019, but her momentum immediately hit a strange turn.

Instead of continuing her run with top names, WWE slotted her into a mixed-tag feud pairing her with Seth Rollins against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, a creative direction many fans at the time questioned. Both Becky and Seth said this decision was awful.

Speaking in a recent interview on Something’s Burning with Bert Kreischer, The Man didn’t hold back when reflecting on the sudden shift, explaining that going from the biggest moment of her career straight into a program with someone who hadn’t yet established herself felt like a huge step down. She said that being placed with Evans right after WrestleMania 35 was creatively frustrating and felt beneath the level she had just reached.

“For me to go from the main event of WrestleMania to somebody who hadn’t done anything was terrible.”

That comment didn’t sit quietly with Lacey Evans, who fired back with the following response:

“Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. The only person who *shoot cried more than you was the baby I had on my hip while taking all the opportunities. If/when I come back… you will STILL do nothing but gently shake my hand and say ‘how cute my little family is’ backstage.”

Lacey then went on to reveal that WWE didn’t pay her extra for her non-PG spot from Extreme Rules 2019:

“Here’s a shot I didnt get paid for….#WWE #comeOnnnnnn #WhereWasMyCut”
