On this week’s go-home edition of SmackDown Live for SummerSlam 2017, 16 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will face the WWE Champion “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal in the main event of the show.
This will be their first ever singles match together on WWE TV (they only had one match before and it was a dark main event after SmackDown Live & 205 Live a few weeks back). Below is what WWE posted about this:

The final edition of SmackDown LIVE before SummerSlam will be headlined by a bout of epic proportions, as John Cena takes on WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. Both Superstars have tough battles ahead of them at The Biggest Event of The Summer, with Baron Corbin awaiting Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura ready to challenge for The Modern Day Maharaja’s title. For Mahal, it’s a chance to cement himself as Team Blue’s top dog against a 16-time World Champion, while Cena will be looking to bounce back from his loss to Nakamura on SmackDown LIVE two weeks ago.
