Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May made her highly anticipated WWE debut on last night’s episode of NXT, sending shockwaves through the wrestling world. The debut was kept so secretive that even WWE talent reportedly found out just moments before the segment aired. According to Fightful Select, May has signed a multi-year deal with the company, and her arrival was known only to a select few behind the scenes.

Following her appearance, May posted on X: “honey i’m home @WWE @WWENXT.”

She also updated her bio to simply read: “wwe superstar” — a clear sign that she sees this move as the next major chapter in her career.

Mariah May Set to Receive New WWE Ring Name

WWE is known for rebranding incoming talent, and Mariah May appears to be no exception. According to WrestleVotes, she is expected to receive a new ring name in the near future:

“She will be getting a new name once it’s decided upon.”

While the name change hasn’t been finalized, it marks the beginning of WWE’s process in integrating her into its system and reintroducing her to a new audience on NXT.

Mariah May’s WWE Move Was Long Expected Within AEW

May’s WWE jump didn’t come as a shock to many backstage at AEW.
