Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Bobby Lashley, MVP and SummerSlam 2025.

• Bobby Lashley and MVP have officially left WWE, as confirmed by their move to the Alumni Section on WWE.com and their removal from the company’s internal roster.

Now free agents, they are expected to join AEW and possibly reform The Hurt Business with Shelton Benjamin, although Cedric Alexander remains with WWE.

They won’t be able to use the original faction name, but a new name, “The Hurt Syndicate,” was trademarked on August 15th by Totally Harmless Concept, LLC, for merchandising purposes. This same LLC previously trademarked “MVP” and “Ghetto Strong Style,” though those trademarks are now inactive. Below is the description:

“Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, ties as clothing, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands as clothing; bandanas.”

• WWE is continuing to expand its influence in professional wrestling and beyond. The trend of holding two-night Premium Live Events is becoming more common, and recent reports suggest that SummerSlam 2025 will likely adopt this format.

While SummerSlam 2024 was a single-night event that took place in Cleveland, Ohio, future events, including SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis, are expected to follow the two-night trend.

Although not officially confirmed, the Wrestling Observer noted that it’s highly likely that SummerSlam 2025 will also span two days:

“Probably. It’s not been announced. Someone asked [Triple H] that at the SummerSlam thing and he said he thought that this was the last year for the one night SummerSlam and I thought maybe he made a mistake because 2026 is (two nights in) Minneapolis. I started asking around and officially no one is going to tell me because they haven’t announced it but I was told unofficially that probably 2025 SummerSlam will be two days (as well).”
