Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving Brandi Rhodes and Tony Khan.
• WWE Champion Cody Rhodes’ wife Brandi Rhodes issued the following statement on Twitter:
“3 Years of pain with no answers. Maryse’s story encouraged me to press on. Many appts later, we found the answer. Stage 4 endometriosis. Successful surgery today.
Ladies, listen to your bodies. We don’t have to live with pain. Advocate for yourself. Finally on the road to recovery we have to talk more about women’s health. Love you Cody Rhodes. I am so blessed with your love.”
Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant.
• During The Rocker Morning Show, AEW President Tony Khan was asked why he takes shots at WWE during interviews and on social media.
Here’s what Khan said:
“In the 90s, certainly, I do think a lot of that helped fuel the wresting economy, but it was a very different time and things weren’t all online. Everybody wasn’t online all the time. It was a very different time for wrestling and a different time to be a sports fan. It’s changed for sports.
Those rivalries and debates in sports are healthy. I think for wrestling, too, it’s a big part, for better or worse of wrestling fandom now.
It’s definitely a way that people keep up on the shows and watch the shows. For me, I’m a big fan of that. I love promoting the shows online.
I know that our wrestlers are really engaged socially. It makes for healthy competition, I think.”
